Born in 1978, J. Matthew Freeman has lived throughout the great state of Texas most of his life before returning to his hometown of Denison to raise his family. A graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a BA in Studio Art; Freeman received both scholastic and achievement awards. It was during his tenure there that he found his passion for figurative painting. He was encouraged by top placings in juried exhibits, including a second place award at the Great Plains Juried Art Exhibit. He has been in juried shows throughout North Texas and Oklahoma. He teaches art and has since returned to school where he is concluding his MFA at Savannah College of Art & Design. His whimsical watercolors and more serious acrylic pieces showcase the variety of talent he brings to the art world.
